Are wildlife tours suitable for families with children?

Wildlife tours can be suitable for families, though conditions vary by destination and lodge.

Some camps (particularly in Africa) require a private vehicle for families with children under 12, and children under 6 are usually not permitted on game drives but can enjoy short ‘bumble drives’ as an alternative. Ages 6–12 may join game drives at the guide’s discretion, while walking safaris are typically for those over 14-16.

Family-friendly itineraries include Authentic Southern Africa, and Magical Madagascar and Borneo Family Adventure while Searching for Coastal Wolves is suited for families with children over 15.
