What is included in a food and wine tour?

A food and wine itinerary package with Adventure World includes a blend of culinary experiences that showcase the unique character of a destination. Inclusions vary, though common highlights are guided food tours, wine tastings and cooking classes.

  • What sets each destination apart is the unique flavour of its culinary traditions:
  • In Argentina, Wander Palermo’s lively streets, sampling Argentine steak, Malbec wines, and dulce de leche desserts. Discover the city’s culinary soul in stylish wine bars, and neighbourhood rotiserías (deli’s), where local flavours and hospitality bring the spirit of Buenos Aires to life.
  • In Costa Rica, Sample gallo pinto, fresh tropical fruits, and locally grown coffee and cacao as you visit plantations and vibrant markets that celebrate the country’s rich food traditions.
  • In India, explore Delhi’s soul through its food. Wander Old Delhi’s lively lanes with a local chef, tasting spiced street food and age-old recipes, then visit New Delhi’s grand boulevards and the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, where thousands are fed daily in a spirit of community and generosity.
  • In the Nordics follow a culinary trail tasting the regions fresh, seasonal cuisine, trying local eateries with a guide, tasting smørrebrød, Danish cheese and organic hot dogs.

Which destinations are known for food and wine holiday packages?

Many of our destinations offer incredible culinary experiences, but a few stand out for their unique flavours, local ingredients, and immersive food and wine experiences:

Argentina

Known for world-class beef and Malbec wines, Argentina features bustling markets in Buenos Aires and traditional asados on estancia ranches and vineyard tours in Mendoza.

Vietnam

Vietnam’s cuisine is vibrant and fresh, with pho and bánh mi now commonplace around the world. With each region offering its own variations and specialities and cooking classes revealing the secrets of classic dishes, Vietnam is foodie paradise.

Mexico

From street tacos and mole sauces to mezcal and tequila tastings, Mexico offers a one-of-a-kind culinary experience. From local markets to family-run kitchens and rich culinary traditions, you’ll never go hungry.

Norway

Beyond its dramatic fjords and rugged coastlines, Norway offers a gourmet food scene spanning from fresh seafood to artisanal cheeses and craft beers. Norway really comes to life in its coastal towns where traditional methods like smoking and curing fish are preserved.

Denmark

Denmark is renowned for its innovative Nordic cuisine. Restaurants in its capital, Copenhagen often blend classic smørrebrød and seafood with New Nordic fine dining, with chefs focusing on seasonal, local ingredients and sustainability.

Can I customise the itinerary of a food and wine holiday package?

Absolutely, customisation is key to our culinary tours. We carefully trial and select a collection of extraordinary experiences to help craft custom journeys for any traveller. While our suggested itineraries are proven in their popularity and authenticity, they can be used as a starting point to create your perfect itinerary.

Whether you want to add part of the Nordic Culinary Trail to end your next Scandinavian trip or explore the Delicious Deep South of America after a classic self-drive, we’re here to help you make the most of your next adventure.

What are the best practices for wine tasting during a food & wine holiday?

If you’re on an itinerary that features vineyard visits such as our Authentic Mendoza (which showcases some of Argentina's finest wines – from bold Malbecs to crisp Torrontés) or Authentic Southern Africa (which includes a full day of wine tasting among the beautiful vines of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek) there are a few things to keep in mind.

To make the most of your wine tasting experience, it’s important to pace yourself and stay refreshed. Make sure to get a good meal in before beginning and drink plenty of water and remember to cleanse your palate between drinks. Engage with winemakers and ask questions to gain deeper insights and enjoy a more authentic experience.
