Experience the African bush like never before in one of Africa’s best kept secrets, Zambia. The beauty of this landlocked country lies within its national parks, where the human footprint is almost nowhere to be seen. Head to South Luangwa National Park, said to be the birthplace of the famous walking safari. Journey to Victoria Falls and see this Natural Wonder of the World from a different angle. Sit back and relax at one of the luxury lodges, soak up the tranquillity as the wildlife comes to you.
Zambia offers a different experience depending on the time of year. June to November is known as the dry season, this is when vegetation is sparse making it easier to spot wildlife as well as offering the best conditions to go on a walking safari. September and October bring in the heat as temperatures soar, if you don’t mind the heat this is a great time to go as animals gather around the water holes. December to March is the rainy season, think smaller crowds and fantastic bird watching as the drawcard. For Victoria Falls, the best time to visit is from February to May, right after the rainfalls, this is when Victoria Falls puts on the greatest show.
VICTORIA FALLS The greatest falls in Africa, during flood season over 150 million gallons of water plummets over the edge per minute. The thunder of the cascading water can be heard from miles away with the spray sometimes visible from up to 30 miles away, a truly awe-inspiring sight.
LOWER ZAMBEZI In the Lower Zambezi National Park the wildlife viewing is endless. Gaze in awe at elephants sauntering along the bank, swarming hippos in the river and fish eagles soaring overhead. The Lower Zambezi National Park lies on the northern bank of the Zambezi River in south-eastern Zambia. The park is relatively undeveloped; its beauty lies in its very wildness. In 2016 it became the world’s first carbon neutral national park.
SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK This spectacular national park has a reputation for abundant wildlife and for being the birth place of the walking safari. Elephants and buffalo have hundred strong herds, with common sightings of lion and the elusive leopard. There are also a few animals to be found that don’t live anywhere else such as the Thorincroft’s Giraffe and the Crawshay’s Zebra.
ZAMBEZI RIVER Acclaimed as the best one-day white water rafting trip in the world, the Zambezi River is a must for any traveller’s bucket list. Canoeing and tranquil river cruises are on offer for the less adventurous.
KAFUE NATIONAL PARK Kafue National Park is perfect for those that want to go off the beaten track or for those veteran African travelers looking for a new destination to explore. As Zambia’s oldest and largest national park, Kafue offers a unique experience to get you back in touch with your wild side.
LIUWA PLAINS Liuwa Plains is one of the last untouched wilderness areas in Africa. The park is also home to Africa’s second largest wildebeest migration and has one of the highest population densities of hyena in the world.

Tipping in Zimbabwe helps the economy and is dependent on your satisfaction levels but is never compulsory but always greatly appreciated. Here is a tipping guide on who to tip and how much: Who: Safari guides, waiters, hotel staff, drivers, or any activity guide. When: A few options are; after an activity, at the end of the day, or at the end of your stay. As a general rule of thumb, tip just the once. For example, if you know you will have the same guide for the whole day, they do not expect you to tip after each activity. How much: This is of course up to the person tipping and satisfaction levels, however as a guide; tip a group guide US$10 per guest per day, a private guide US$20 per guest per day, and general staff US$5 per guest per day. Tipping can definitely be a sensitive issue, no need to be embarrassed by it. It is a normal part of the industry in Zimbabwe and they are informed of tipping practices from different international guests. Always best to carry around small bills wherever you go.
