Day 1
Welcome to Vancouver, a city surrounded by mountains, rainforests and coastlines. Today is at leisure to settle in and explore. We have included admission tickets for FlyOver Canada, where you will hang suspended, feet dangling, while an 8 minute film whisks you away on an exhilarating journey across Canada, from east to west.
Day 2
Explore both downtown Vancouver and its neighboring North Shore all in one day. Today’s sightseeing tour features all the most popular city sites including Stanley Park and Granville Island, combined with a visit to the North Shore to explore Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, and the Capilano Salmon Hatchery.
Day 3
Head to the airport today for the short but scenic flight across to Vancouver Island, and the charming fishing port of Campbell River. The remainder of the day is at leisure to discover the town.
Day 4
It’s time to go find some bears! Transfer from your hotel in Campbell River to the floatplane dock ready to board your flight to the lodge. Strap in and enjoy the stunning scenery as the pilot navigates towards the remote wilderness setting. After arriving at the lodge, which is a unique experience for those who have never been in a float plane before, it’s time for an orientation and safety briefing as well as a fitting for your all weather outerwear, before an afternoon boat ride. In the late afternoon, when the bears are most active, you’ll head out on the first 3 hour bear viewing session. Bear viewing can be either by boat, or from platform viewing stands, depending on the season. Back at the lodge in time for a delicious dinner, followed by an interpretive program with the knowledgeable guides. (L)(D)
Day 5
Today is full of possibilities. Of course there will be more bear viewing tours, but you can also choose to fill your day with guided wildlife tracking walks, marine wildlife viewing trips, kayaking, bird watching or just relaxing at the lodge. Tasty gourmet meals and snacks will be provided to keep you energized for your adventures, and another interpretive program will be on offer this evening. (B)(L)(D)
Day 6
Sadly it’s time to farewell the bears, though we are happy to add extra nights at the lodge if you don’t expect to have had your fill by now, and take another scenic floatplane flight back to Campbell River. In Campbell River, head to the airport for your flight back to Vancouver. After your time in the wilderness, Vancouver will be a return to civilization for a final night before your journey home. Perhaps check out the city’s fantastic nightlife and dining options. (B)
Day 7
The adventure ends this morning as you check-out and continue your onward or homebound journey. If time permits, some last minute shopping this morning is highly recommended.
