Day 1
Transfer to the Keflavík airport for your early morning flight to the Faroe Islands. On arrival explore Tinganes, the old part of Tórshavn with charming houses, some with traditional grass roofs. One of the most interesting buildings is the old Parliament building.
There are several good restaurants, coffee shops and cozy bars. Restaurant culture in Tórshavn has really taken off in the last two decades, with a variety of dining experiences. Several restaurants feature a fine dining cuisine that features traditional specialties.
The Faroese music culture is also very enjoyable and diverse. Known for its alternative musical events, the Faroese music scene has started to develop an international following.
Day 2
Today is a perfect blending of nature, geology, and history. Your tour starts with a drive via a mountain road to Vestmanna village, where an excursion boat awaits. The Vestmanna Cliffs are one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Faroe Islands. The boat will take you through narrow sounds, into deep grottoes carved by the surf, and close to the 700 m high cliffs where thousands of seabirds’ nest. En route back to Tórshavn, stop at an old Viking farmstead in the beautiful and quaint village of Kvívík. Here you will see an old excavation of two Viking longhouses. (B)
Day 3
Today, enjoy a great introduction to the history and art of the Faroe Islands. Travel by ferry to Sandoy, one of the Faroe Islands’ most unspoiled islands. Visit the Viking-age ruins at Junkarinsflotti and learn about the excavations in the village’s graveyard. You will also visit an art gallery in Sandur, which has one of the largest private art collections in the Faroe Islands, including many paintings by renowned Faroese artists. On the way back to Tórshavn, visit a famous historical site in ancient Kirkjubøur village. Here you’ll see the uncompleted 13th-century Magnus Cathedral, the 12-century St Olav’s church, and an 11th century farm manor. (B)
Day 4
Unguided early morning transfer by shuttle taxi from your hotel to Vágar airport for your morning flight. Your travel experience ends at Keflavík airport. (B)
