November to March (spring through to early autumn) has average daytime temperatures of\u202f<\/span>18-21\u00b0C<\/span>, while nights typically sit around\u202f<\/span>6\u00b0C<\/span>. This is the rainiest part of the year, so you can expect higher humidity throughout\u00a0the cloud-forest sections and a greater chance of downpours. Monthly rainfall around Cusco increases to about\u202f<\/span>71-145mm<\/span>, with\u202f<\/span>January\u00a0<\/span>and\u202f<\/span>February<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>being the wettest times.\u00a0Rain tends to fall in\u202f<\/span>short, heavy bursts<\/span>\u202f\u2013\u00a0often later in the day\u00a0\u2013\u00a0but multiday systems\u00a0can\u00a0occur,\u00a0reducing\u00a0visibility and making\u00a0stone steps and paths slick underfoot. Day 1:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0You\u2019ll\u00a0set off from\u00a0Piscacucho\u00a0and follow the historic stone path through the Urubamba Valley section of the trail, with the first major Inca sites appearing early in the trek at\u00a0Llactapata\/Patallaqta. So, aim for a mix of cardio (bushwalking, stair runs, cycling, and incline treadmill sessions) and strength training to build power in your legs, glutes, calves and core.
