Conserving for future generations: looking at our authentic Africa collection

Recently updated on January 29th, 2024 at 06:51 pm

Africa, an age-old continent of contrast; rugged coastal landscapes, vast plains and deserts, iconic wildlife and lost civilisations. A place one longs to travel to, and a place with much to conserve for future generations to experience.

Our Authentic Africa collection lets you explore the continent and meet the people involved in conservation, people who will share with pride the Africa they love and care for.

A trip to Southern Africa is not complete without a visit to Table Mountain and Cape Town’s exciting cultural diversity, the sobering reminder of apartheid – heritage listed Robben Island along with another World Heritage site Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe/Zambia border. Our Authentic Southern includes all these must-sees and culminates in a private reserve game viewing experience of note. Kapama’s luxury tented buffalo camp is situated in a massive private reserve alongside Kruger National Park. The beauty of Kapama is in their conservation management. Their Anti-Poaching Unit patrols on foot and with tracking dogs to protect the bio-diversity of theirs and surrounding reserves.

In our Authentic Gorillas & Masai Mara Fly-In package, we invite you to see the gorillas in Rwanda. A country whose beauty is lesser known, with the gorillas accessible a short ride from the capitol, in the Volcanoes National Park. You’ll visit The Ellen Campus (donated by Ellen DeGeneres) of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where gorilla conservation is accelerated through scientific research. Enroute to the Masai Mara, you’ll visit The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi. They raise and reintegrate orphaned elephants and rhinos, and are actively involved in anti-poaching.

Capture more of this region in our Authentic East Africa trip. It includes the Serengeti Circuit; Tarangire National Park, known for its density of elephants and baobao trees and Ngogongoro Crater, this caldera is home to over 25,000 large animals. Throughout these safaris you will learn how important it is to conserve these landscapes and these species for the future.

Another country that is at the forefront of conservation is Egypt. Authentic Egypt is a comprehensive trip through the wonders of these ancient kingdoms. Your guides are Egyptologists, at each step of your journey to assist you through the ruling dynasties and pharaohs of note. Covering the must-see pyramids, temples, ancient city complexes, you’ll travel from Giza to Luxor, cruise to Aswan and fly to Abu Simbel.

A unique collection of these preserved treasures will be visiting Sydney in the Australian Museum’s exhibition Ramses & the Gold of the Pharoahs.  Attend the exhibition and you can go in the draw to win an Authentic Egypt trip for two.
